Marples Gears specializes in high-precision fine-pitch gears for customers that require precise movement and positioning. Our gear hobbing and gear shaping capabilities include 12 DP to 200 DP and metric pitches of .3 MOD to 2 MOD with various pressure angles. For special pitches, we can have custom tooling made to machine almost and gear form required.
We are capable of manufacturing gears complete, or we can cut teeth on your customer furnished blanks (CTO). We can cut gears up to AGMA Quality 13 and are able to cut spur, helical, worm and internal gears as well as serrations, splines, pulleys, and sprockets.
Our equipment includes various machinery to manufacture quality products. we have several Mikron Hobbing Machines, from our newest piece, a Mikron 102.05 EP (Extra Precision) a differential machine that is capable of machining just about any spur and helical gear, to one of several of our PLC Mikron 132.02 and Barber Coleman Gear Hobbing Machines. Our gear shaping capabilities are enabled with a pair of Fellows #3 shapers, and a Fellows #7 shaper. Our machines are in top condition, with recent rebuilds, and are capable of holding tolerances as tight as .0002 diameter. With Marples Engineering influences, we are capable of hitting pitch diameters and test radiuses within tenths of a thousandths of an inch.
