Software & Filetypes

What kind of software does Marples have?

We have Solidworks, Mastercam and other software suites to help us manufacture your machined components.

What format / file types are recommended to submit blueprints of diagrams?

The preferred file type for sending us drawings would be a .pdf, .tif, or .jpg file; although most file types can be utilized.

What is the recommended formatting / file types for CAD files?

We would prefer .stp files for solid models; although most file types can be utilized.

What if I need help creating and/or exporting my files?

We have nominal fees for engineering and help with drawings.

Consultation & Engineering

Does Marples offer engineering consultation services?

Yes however this is given in relationship to the manufacturing of a project and not the design of the part.

What engineering experience does Marples have?

We have a combined experience of over 75 years.

Ordering

What is the best way to request a quote?

Either through the contact us tab of our company website or through emailing us at info@marplesgears.com and including your part drawings and other requirements.

What are your payment terms?

On the first order from first time orderers generally we require a partial prepayment, but once a credit review is completed terms are typically NET 30.

Do you offer long-term purchasing agreements?

Yes, generally 3 years or less.

Production Specs

Can Marples manufacture other parts that are not gears?

Yes we can!  We have Modern CNC turning, milling and gear cutting equipment, with supporting inspection equipment.  See our equipment list for more details.

What kinds of gears does Marples manufacture?

Involute Spur, helical, worm gears, as well as involute splines and serrations (internal and external).

What types of materials can Marples machine?

We can machine nearly any material excluding ceramic, carbon, glass, or materials that will contaminate our equipment.

Are all of your products produced in the USA?

Yes!  All of our products are manufactured 100% in the USA.

What tolerances can you hold?

Our equipment is in excellent condition, and we regularly hold tolerances within .0002 to .0004” in our CNC Turning and grinding departments.  In our milling department, we can hold true positions and POS tolerance of features within .002”; verified with our Mitutoyo Crysta-apex CNC CMM.  Our gear department equipment is able to hold tolerances up to AGMA Q13 for hobbing and AGMA 11 for shaping with gear size measurement tolerances within .0004”.

Marples has a dual registration conforming to AS9100C:2009 / ISO 9001:2008 standards.  We have been AS9100 / ISO 9001 registered since 2010.

Shipping & Delivery

What is the delivery time for my project?

All deliveries are quoted on an order to order basis at the time of the project and will vary with project complexity; but are generally between 10 to 90 days.

Can I expedite shipping?

Yes production and deliveries can be rushed with additional rush fees.

How will my parts be packaged?

Parts are packaged to customer requirements; most customers prefer egg trays or bagged with labels.
